Pioneer DDJ – REV 7 Controller Review -By DJ Cable

I’ve been sitting on this for a while, but I’m finally pleased to announce that one of the products I helped design with Pioneer DJ has now been released – The DDJ-Rev7

The DDJ-Rev7 is Pioneer’s answer to the Rane One. It’s a 2 channel controller that includes 7” motorised platters with on jog display, featuring the functionality of their DJM-S series style mixer. The layout emulates a professional DJM-S mixer & PLX turntable setup, perfect for open format and Hip Hop DJs who are used to having their decks in “battle style”, as the pitch sliders are located at the top of the unit.

What’s also special about the REV7 is the acrylic top plate is finished with a vinyl-like texture, and you can choose between low and high torque settings and use the two slip sheets included inside each deck to find your preferred amount of friction, along with the option to have 33⅓ or 45rpm speed. On the center of each jog wheel is a 3.5-inch LCD that keeps important information at your fingertips so there’s far less need to switch your gaze between the decks and your laptop.

Along with the industry standard Magvel Pro faders, 2x USB ports for seamless changeover, scratch bank and 22 beat FX, this is something that can be used for not only private events, but as a proper club setup.

I know this may sound biased, considering I played a small part in the overall design, but having used the finished controller, I can wholeheartedly say this is a flawless product.

The DD-REV7 is now available with a retail price of £1,829
